My Sweet Emptiness

My sweet emptiness
How can I fill myself with your food?
You are more nourishing than the ripest fruit
Yet I chose the apple once again

On the surface her red skin outshines your nothing
The flavor, a warm adventure to your icy pilgrimage
A curious splendor made by the Almighty
That takes from my soul with every bite

Alas my lost lover
You give endlessly without having a beginning or middle
Filling the void with none but void still
How can that be?

No, I am not tempted to eat you
Instead I beg for your meal
Is that a sin too I wonder
Or, is it the only choice left?

The tree still shimmers in the garden
Her voice whispers everyday and night
I am so hungry
But somehow emptiness, you give me life

Spoonful by spoonful
I swallow your tasteless truth
Until I become thy student
For only then may I hear the lessons of forever

Master, when does desire fade?
I see the fruit and want it badly
Wait longer, a voice spoke aloud inside my head
And so I ate your breath again instead

As I listened to your muted melody
I became Time's forgotten friend
Wanting less yet receiving more
Until my desire met its final end
